poetry by and for the people

the following poem was a collaboration of four creative human beings, latisha baker, brooke blaize, tonie nesbitt, and myself.  created by the people for the people. enjoy.

on a clear night
i stand before you
naked with words
vulnerable in prose
bathing in moonlight
while diving deeply into language

i stand before you
honest and humble
exposed but not ashamed
anticipating the action
of your beautiful mind.

The Song of We (revised)

When you hear that song
you know,
the one that I played
for you

Think of me
Feel me bass deep in your heart
Feel me staccato in your mind
Feel me arpeggio in your bones

Allow me to be that melody you seek

Anticipate the pleasure of my blues
dissipating your pain
stop fighting the joy
you know you look forward to every time

I float across your mind in syncopating rhythm…

Are you ready to slow dance with me?
you take one step
i’ll follow your lead
together we will glide in sublime motion

I am that place close to your loveliness

Now you know how divine this love is…

Yeah, that song

Black August Dreams

Once on a dark august night
you’ll rise brightly to the occasion
you’ll come to me with your magic
magic black & tender & beautiful
as your skin, your smile, your eyes-
not everyone will get to see it, &
i surely don’t want to miss it
jealous of anyone with front row access
'cause i want this special moment all to myself
but if i promise to share you generously
will you allow me to move gently into your splendor?
you only appear once in a blue moon
& in the deep slumber of my black august dreams

i will remember you when I wake
